In his speech, H.E. President Barrow thanked H.E. President Xi Jinping, the Chinese government and the Chinese people for their selfless help to The Gambia. The Gambia treasures this food aid and will ensure that all food is distributed to people in need. Barrow emphasized that China is a real good friend of The Gambia, over the past six years since the resumption of diplomatic relations, the Chinese government has helped The Gambia to complete the construction of the ICC and the URR Road and Bridge, and has achieved remarkable achievements in agricultural cooperation and deepened cooperation in other fields. The Gambia will continue to cooperate with China in agriculture and other fields. It is believed that with the help of China, The Gambia will achieve the long-term development goal of food self-sufficiency in the near future.
H.E. Ambassador Liu said that since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and The Gambia, under the guidance of H.E. President Xi Jinping and H.E. President Adama Barrow, relations between the two countries have grown rapidly. China understands that the Gambian government attaches importance to food security and agricultural development, and places priority on agricultural cooperation between the two countries, not only providing food aid, but also strengthening agricultural technology assistance.
